There have been times when I've eaten seafood and my lips would swell up. This only happens sometimes. The very first time it happened was a few years after my lupus diagnosis. I ate a crab-salad sandwich at work, which the cafeteria said it was immitation not real crabmeat. The other few occassions was after eating shrimp, but it didn't happen everytime I ate it. Also, when I've had some dental procedures done, I had to pre-medicate with an antibiotic for a heart murmur, and I noticed after the procedure my lips would be a little swollen. I don't know if this is due to the antibiotics or the latex gloves the dentist uses. I'm not sure if this is an allergy, but I'm guessing it is. I know I should consult a doctor to find out for sure, but it hasn't happened in quite a few years now. I will be sure to ask about it next time though.
