Recently, my wife has developed dry skin on her hands along with small round lesions that are extremely painful. It seems to be related to sun exposure and stress, but really we have no clue what’s causing it. This is probably the third time in the last year that this has happened but this is certainly the most severe occurrence.
It’s very frustrating when your specialist is two hundred miles away and doesn’t always respond to phone calls.
It looks like a chemical burn, but she hasn’t handled any chemicals.
I’m really sorry your wife is experiencing this. I know how horrible these lesions can be. Are they on the palm sides of her hands or on the outsides? I’ve had them on the palmsides of my hand including my fingertips. They are very painful, making it very difficult to do everyday tasks such as bathing, washing, eating, etc.
In your last entry, you mentioned everyone being sick. There may be a connection with that and the lesions. You should continue to try to contact your wife’s specialist because more than likely this is evidence of lupus activity. Even if it turns out to be something minor, it’s better to be overly cautious. Despite what some Doctor’s may believe, I believe our bodies tell us when something is going on that needs to be taken care of and we need to listen to our bodies first.
I pray that your wife gets better soon. Take Care and Be Blessed!
I actually soak my hands in rubbing alcohol till I just about pass out from the pain to help them along. Sick I know. But the time it takes for the lesions to make the rounds and heal themselves is too long and the constant pain is miserable
Not that YOU should do this just that your not alone in the pain and suffering. Hope you figure something better with less pain.
Hey Jeff,
I have symptoms that sound similar to this. My rheumy says it looks like dermatomyositis even though my muscle labs always come back normal. I posted a pic of it on my blog, I’m gonna give you the link to have a look-see and see if Jenny’s look like mine. I’m sorry she’s going through this.
hugs,
Michelle
