Hospital Time

My wife is on her second evening in the hospital and we are not sure how soon she will be coming home. Her pneumonia, or whatever it is, just got out of control.

hospital.JPGOne one hand, I’m glad that she’s able to get rest and has people taking care of her, but on the other hand, lupus is really confusing and few medical professionals really know much about it.

We’ve never had to deal with a prolonged hospital stay before. I’m getting some help with the kids, but I want to be there for them as well, which leaves my wife alone at the hospital. She hates being alone, and I feel bad that I can’t be there all the time.

I’m not sure this post had much of a point, but I’m sure I’m not the only person out there dealing with something like this. Send some good thoughts our way, if you can.

Pneumonia Shots

Do lupus patients regularly get flu shots or pneumonia shots? I had to take my wife to the hospital this morning because her pneumonia was just getting worse and worse. During the admitting process, one of the doctors went on and on about the importance of pneumonia shots.

Do you usually get pneumonia shots? Do they help?

SLE and Pneumonia

Has anyone with SLE had experience with regular bouts of pneumonia? My wife has had pneumonia at least once a year since we met and it really worries me.

I’ve heard there are shots you can get to help prevent pneumonia. Do they help?

It gets really scary when she gets this sick.
